Tell us about your first and favourite cars.
My favourite car is a 1971 Holden Monaro HG GTS, and my first car was an 1982 KA Ford Laser. It was an old clotted cream colour until I got my hands on it and painted it bright purple. The things we do when we’re kids….
What’s your favourite automotive pastime?
Sitting in the back seat of my grandfather’s HG GTS Monaro, while my grandmother who stands about 5 feet tall would throw it around town like it was a Mini Cooper – no power steering either!
Why did you first become a motor mechanic?
As a kid I loved tinkering on cars with dad in the front yard, and in the back yard too when mum would let him. The passion started from there. Dad taught me most of what I knew when I first started my apprenticeship.

What’s the best thing about being a motor mechanic?
Being able to deliver a good quality honest service, and helping people who need it. Nobody likes having car trouble, and if I can be there to help someone in need then I’m happy with that.
What’s your automotive specialty?
Problem solving and diagnosis – I love a challenge.
What is the best automotive advice you have ever received?
From Dad: “Do the right thing by people, and they will keep coming back to you.” I’ve worked by this for my whole career and I treat every customer how I would want my family treated, with honesty and respect. There is no use ripping anybody off to make a quick dollar, trust and loyalty is the foundation to success.
